CLSR Program Manager Position Opening


The Center for Law and Social Responsibility (CLSR) at New England Law | Boston is hiring!

Title: CLSR Program Manager
Terms: Full time contract position, 6 months. Some nights and weekends required.
Start date: ASAP
End date: August 23, 2013
Location: Boston, MA

Job Description:

The CLSR Program Manager will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination and implementation of a new and exciting summer program for New England Law students. The CLSR Summer Fellows program is designed to offer rising 2Ls and 3Ls opportunities for paid public interest summer fellowships. The goal of the program is to foster a core group of public interest minded students at the school and to increase the marketability of New England Law graduates.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the CLSR by recruiting and overseeing students in Center projects during the Spring 2013 semester 
  • Provide general administrative assistance to CLSR faculty on CLSR-related programs
  • Host a minimum of one Law Matters speakers’ series by securing a public interest practitioner and publicizing the event to students 
  • Manage the CLSR budget
  • Lead the planning and implementation of the CLSR Summer Fellows program by developing relationships with potential public interest placement sites
  • Respond to student inquiries about the CLSR Summer Fellows program 
  • Review applications from candidates and summarize candidate qualifications for Professors Manus and Siegel
  • Together with Professors Manus and Siegel, conduct interviews and select qualified candidates to receive summer stipends
  • Develop and conduct a CLSR Summer Fellows Orientation session for all selected candidates before the end of the Spring 2013 semester 
  • Collect timesheets and review journals on a weekly basis from all students in the CLSR Summer Fellows program 
  • Reach out to summer fellows as needed and address questions or concerns 
  • Contact each placement site at least once during the summer to discuss the needs of the New England Law Boston community partners
  • Assist Professors Bobrowski and Hansen with administrative oversight of the Center for Business Law Summer Fellows Program 
  • Complete other tasks as needed 

Skills and Qualifications:

JD required. The ideal candidate will be a May or December 2012 New England Law | Boston graduate with a genuine interest in public service and public interest law. Managerial and program development experience a plus. The candidate must commit to carry out and direct the program for the entire term of the employment contract.
